Companies are responsible for the personal information used by Chat-bots. Further, Privacy Laws prescribe limits for the necessity and proportionality of the personal information used.
There are a whole host of issues with AI and privacy of personal information. For example, training and development of AI uses personal information, generally collected from the internet or some proprietary data base. Similarly, Chat-bots collect information, and learn from each customer interaction. There are limits to this and other chat-bot activities, set by Privacy Laws.
Is it necessary for instance, for interactions between chat-bots and customers to be recorded? Is this perceived ‘necessity’ in proportion to the service being provided to the customer; would the customer expect their information to be recorded; have they consented; is the interaction Open and Transparent – all of which are governed by Privacy Laws.
