The European Commission fined Meta 200 Million Euro's for deceptive consent practices.


The fine relates to the practice of 'pay or consent' options for customers, seemingly requiring them to consent to the use of their personal information if they don't pay to use the service.  In order to be compliant with the EU's Digital Markets Act (DMA), free and informed consent requires the platform to allow users to refuse consent and still use the service.
